Stand-downs and suspensions
Cases per 1,000 students in 2025, adjusted for the ages of the school’s students, compared with all New Zealand schools.
These measure how a school responds to behaviour, and schools set their own thresholds, so they are not a measure of how students behave.
What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from July 2023. This kind of report sets out what ERO and the school will evaluate together, here how well all students are supported to succeed by giving mātauranga Māori equal standing (mana ōrite) through curriculum, teaching and learning, in line with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
The school chose this because its data showed room to lift attendance, engagement and achievement. ERO pointed to the school’s firm commitment to building te reo Māori and bringing te ao Māori into learning and school culture, a reflective, improvement-focused board and leadership team, and deliberate structures that build staff capability and consistency.
Next, the school plans to keep giving students and the community a voice in decisions, including the aspirations of Te Tauihu set out in Ngā Kawatau me ngā Tūmanakotanga o Te Tauihu, and to check how consistently and lastingly recent professional learning shows up in teaching.

Enrolling
Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places, with priority for siblings of current and former students, then children of former students and of board employees and members.
The scheme says the board publishes the number of out-of-zone places and the application and ballot dates by public notice each year, and the school posts enrolment dates and out-of-zone availability on its Transition / Enrolment page.
Enrolment is online. Families interested in the bilingual class Te Kōhao o te Ngira complete the relevant section of the enrolment form, and after enrolling each new student and their whānau are invited to an interview.
